    Description

    1942 Babe Ruth Signed Check Issued to His Wife, PSA/DNA NM-MT 8. Not all Ruth checks are created equal, and the presented example ranks above the common masses in desirability for several reasons. Most notably, the Babe designates "Claire Ruth" as the payee, supplying a second partial signature in addition to his standard "GH Ruth" autograph at bottom left. All writing is in the Babe's 8/10 blue fountain pen ink. It's also the most coveted of check formats, with "Babe Ruth" printed by the bank at left. Claire's endorsing signature appears on verso, and she apparently signed the check over to another person whose signature is below hers. The check exhibits a horizontal center fold line but is otherwise in fine condition with original bank stamping and punch coding. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, NM-MT 8.
