    Description

1941 Babe Ruth Signed Check to His Wife Claire. Another iconic Yankee, Joltin' Joe DiMaggio, was twenty-one games into his hitting streak of fifty-six when the Babe wrote this twenty dollar check to his wife Claire (effectively a second "Ruth" signature) on his Chemical Bank account. This is the most desirable of Ruth check formats, with the impressive and attractive "Babe Ruth" imprint at left, and Ruth's black fountain pen ink could not be bolder. A brush of the Babe's hand has caused the slightest of feathering to the Babe's signature at lower right, but the signature remains attractive and perfectly formed. We must assume the check is endorsed by Claire on verso, but have chosen not to tamper with the museum quality framing job which includes a facsimile of the Babe's 1927 Income Tax return and a page from a 1959 magazine interview with Claire. Final framed dimensions are 25x29". Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. Third party shipping is required.
