1932 Babe Ruth & Christy Walsh Signed Check, PSA/DNA Authentic. Any check signed by the great Babe Ruth is a desirable commodity, and we'd never suggest otherwise. But if we were to be entirely honest, we'd admit that the standard "GH Ruth" signature that attends the overwhelming majority of representations is our least favorite autograph variation. Conversely, we find one of our favorites here.

The presented example boats a nice rendition of the highly desirable variation "Geo. H. Babe Ruth" signature on the verso of the check, while his trusted agent, Christy Walsh occupies the front. It is Walsh's handwriting which directs the sum of "64.77" to the "Bank of Manhattan Trust Company." A notation on verso, written in the same apparent hand, indicates that the deposit was intended for "Mr. Ruth's share of Milton Bradley Co. check #29768 (game)," which refers to the popular board game "'Babe' Ruth's Baseball Game."

The March 3, 1932 date of the check positions it just before the start of The Sultan's final World Series championship season with the Yankees. Bank punch coding doesn't intersect with either the Babe's all-important autograph (bold blue fountain pen with light smudging) or that of Mr. Walsh (bold black 9.5/10 fountain pen).

One of the most significant and historically important Ruth checks in the hobby. His appearance with pioneering sports agent Christy Walsh, the man who all but single-handedly redefined the role of sports star as celebrity, makes it so. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, Authentic.
