1924 Bobby Wallace Signed Chicago Cubs Payroll Check. The "R.J." initials are for "Rhoderick John," but you know him better as Bobby Wallace, widely considered the finest American League shortstop of the twentieth century's first decade. Here he receives payment in his role as scout for the 1924 Chicago Cubs, the sum of "$166.67" acknowledged with a signature at lower left from Bill Veeck, Sr., the father of the Hall of Fame executive. We find Wallace's signature on reverse, rating a conservative 8/10 in blue fountain pen ink. The check exhibits general handling wear and bank punch coding but presents very well. An exciting way to bring this rare autograph into your private collection. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
