    Description

1920 Jack Calvo Signed Check. Born in Havana, Cuba in 1894, Calvo was just eighteen when he made his debut with the 1913 Washington Senators, becoming one of the first foreign born players in the Majors. A Cuban Hall of Fame inductee and Negro League star, Calvo is an enormously challenging autograph for collectors. This 1920 check dating to his second season of service to the Senators after a seven-year absence is drawn from a Washington, DC bank, paying $150 for a hotel stay. All ink is 9/10, and a single vertical fold line is the only condition issue beyond bank stamping and punch coding. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
