1881 General William T. Sherman Signed Check, PSA/DNA NM-MT 8. Union Army general is mostly known for his brilliant military strategy, total war tactics, and harsh scorched earth policy during the Civil War. After the war, Uncle Billy served as the supreme commander of the Army and the Secretary of War. Drawn on "Riggs & Co." bank, this 1881 check is signed on the front in 9/10 black fountain pen "W.T. Sherman." There is a small tear (with pinhole paper loss) at the center of the check but it doesn't affect the autograph and is only noticeable on closer inspection.
