Brooklyn Dodgers Greats Signed Photographs Over 150. Offered is a massive collection of over 150 signed 8" x 10 " photos form the Brooklyn Dodgers. In 1957 President Walter O'Malley was pleading to the city to build him a new ballpark in Brooklyn. He began to threaten to move the club out of the city, but New York Mayor Robert Wagner, and most of the city's officials did not take these threats seriously. However the city of Los Angeles was courting the Dodgers hard, with the promise to build a ballpark in Chavez Ravine. With this starting to leak out Mayor Wagner made a feeble effort to save the Dodgers. Mayor Wagner was all ready on shaky ground, as the Giants were getting ready to move to San Francisco. So Wagner offered O'Malley a new ballpark, but it was in Queens. O'Malley was insulted, and the threats became a reality. There was no turning back the Dodgers were California bound. The Dodgers would play their last game in Ebbets Field on September 24th, and finish in 3rd Place with an 84-70 record. Brooklyn was used to heartbreaks, but it would never quite get over this, because in years past there was always next year. Some of the highlights of this collection include Duke Snider, Preacher Roe, Pee Wee Reese, Don Newcombe, Cookie Lavagetto, Clem Labine, Tommy Lasorda, Sandy Koufax, Billy Herman, Al Gionfriddo, Carl Furillo, Carl Erskine, Don Drysdale, Babe Dahlgren, Roger Craig, Chuck Conner, Dolph Camilli, Ralph Branca, Frenchy Bordagaray, Joe Black, Dick Williams, Don Zimmer, Clyde Sukeforth, Rocky Bridges, etc. LOA from PSA/DNA.Auction Info
