1954 Hall of Famers Multi-Signed Bat. Astounding assortment of autographs was collected on a full-size store model Hillerich & Bradsby by a fan in attendance at Yankee Stadium's Hall of Fame game on August 14, 1954, as his vintage ink notation attests. While a few "mere mortals" are sprinkled in among the greats of the game, the cast of characters is definitely heavily slanted toward Cooperstown quality: Cy Young, Paul Waner, Gabby Hartnett, Dazzy Vance, Fred Clarke, Whitey Ford, Lefty Grove, Joe DiMaggio, Phil Rizzuto, Enos Slaughter and a great "rookie style" Mickey Mantle. It must be pointed out that in addition to the twenty-six genuine autographs decorating the barrel of the bat, the youthful original owner chose to augment the cast of legends with the names of close to a dozen other Hall of Famers. These "autographs" remain well hidden from view when the bat is displayed however, as they are almost all applied to the opposite side of the barrel. The genuine signatures have survived surprisingly well compared to most signed bats from this era, with none listed dipping below a boldness of 7/10. The bat itself shows expected wear, but thankfully any imperfections have very limited effect upon the autographs. LOA from PSA/DNA. LOA from James Spence Authentication.
