Description

An utterly pristine specimen for the uncompromising collector.

The Finest Jimmie Foxx Single Signed Baseball on Earth. "He has muscles in his hair," Yankees Hall of Fame pitcher Lefty Gomez once said of the prolific slugger who made the 500 Home Run Club a duo during the final week of the 1940 season, joining the Babe in long ball immortality. One of the most feared right-handed hitters in baseball history, Foxx was a key force in breaking the 1920's Yankees' stranglehold on the American League, supplying Philadelphia with three pennants and two World Championships during Connie Mack's second great Athletics dynasty.

Only Mel Ott presents a greater challenge to collectors aiming for a complete run of 500 Home Run Club single signed baseballs, and no other Foxx specimen can compete with this representation. Consult our imagery to confirm this bold claim of superiority. This Foxx single is utterly untouched by the hands of time, only handled by those of the 1951 Hall of Fame inductee whose blue fountain pen autograph commands the sweet spot with 9+/10 perfection. The medium is an Official Little League sphere.

Both PSA/DNA and James Spence provide their assurance of the autograph's authenticity, but we must report that the former has ruled that there is a "personalization removal" on the northern panel. We're honestly baffled by this assessment, and we provide within our online listing a hyper-magnified image of the panel in question to support our viewpoint. There is indeed the tiniest of marks here, most likely some sort of very minor dye transfer from whatever the ball may have been touching when stored. But look at the pores of the leather. You'll see they are entirely untouched, without the slightest break in the consistency of the texture. This would be impossible had any form of alteration been undertaken.

James Spence confidently stands by the ruling of a true, unaltered single. You be the judge of which service is correct. We confidently assert this is the finest Foxx single signed baseball in the hobby. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
