John Glenn Single Signed Baseball. John Glenn used blue ball point pen to sign a side panel of this Major League ball (Selig). The strong signature displays Nmt-Mt. quality. Glenn became the first American to orbit the earth on February 20, 1962, aboard the Mercury-Atlas 6 Friendship 7. The Marine Corps veteran became the oldest person to fly in space when, at the age of 77 in 1998, he flew aboard the space shuttle Discovery. Ted Williams flew with Glenn on about half of his combat missions, protecting his plane from enemy fire. He represented Ohio in the U.S. Senate from 1974-1999. Some minor discoloration spots on the ball do nothing to detract from the signature. Glenn often personalizes balls, so rare to find a single with no dedication. Pre Certified By PSA/DNA.
