Description

Gabby Hartnett Single Signed Baseball. Gabby Hartnett is generally considered the greatest National League catcher prior to Johnny Bench. A .297 career hitter, he was named the National League MVP in 1935 and led the Cubs to four pennants during his 20 year career. He will best be remembered, however, for his dramatic 1938 late season "Homer in the Gloamin'" which defeated the Pirates and helped clinch the pennant for the Cubs. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1955. Hartnett passed away in 1972 and is a particularly difficult single signature baseball to obtain. Offered is a beautiful blue ink "Leo Gabby Hartnett" signature that is scripted across the sweet spot of a golden ONL (Frick) baseball which has been shellacked. JSA Auction LOA.
