Description

Early 1960's Joe Gordon Single Signed Baseball. Four times a World Champion with the New York Yankees, and once with the Cleveland Indians, Gordon failed to garner the recognition he deserved as a player only due to his proximity to legends like DiMaggio, Feller and Lemon, who drew most of the fans' and sportswriters' attention. With an average of over 100 runs batted in per season when factored to a 162-game schedule, Gordon would have been the top dog on many a ballclub, and his Hall of Fame induction more than three decades after his passing in 1978 was long overdue. It has also greatly complicated the search for his singles, now a requirement for every collector with a Cooperstown concentration. Here we present a nice example, a 7/10 blue ink inscription reading "Best Wishes, Joe Gordon" on the sweet spot of an Official American Association ball. The James Burris presidential stamping dates the ball to 1961 or 1962. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
