    Description

Circa 1960 Branch Rickey Single Signed Baseball. The man known as the brains and muscle behind signing the first African-American to play Major League Baseball, Branch Rickey was also known for far more in his illustrious and long baseball career. Even before signing Jackie Robinson, the Hall of Fame executive was the first to mandate the use of batting helmets in 1941. He also would sign the first Afro-Hispanic player in Roberto Clemente, and helped encourage the expansion of Major League Baseball. Prior to all of this, he even game playing the sport a try, for the New York Highlanders and St. Louis Browns, as well as suiting up for a professional football team.

The baseball offered here may be one of the finest known single signed Rickey orbs. The ONL (Giles) ball remains virtually white with just a light creamy tone to it. There is no staining or scuffing and the ball is free of any noticeable defects. Rickey has signed the side panel in 8.5/10 ink, a sure autograph to grab the attention of any baseball aficionado. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
