Circa 1957 Ty Cobb Signed Baseball. What's a young baseball fan supposed to do? The opportunity is nigh to capture a Ty Cobb autograph, and the immediate challenge is providing a suitable medium. In a moment of pragmatic genius, a souvenir 1957 Yankee ball seems in order. With 27 simulated signatures about its surface (now basically faded to intensities of 1-4), a now much mellowed Mr. Cobb consented to sign this ball. Though perhaps not then apparent to any of the parties of this encounter, 1957 did mark the 50th anniversary of Cobb's first pennant-winning season. Graciously, Cobb in fact consented to sign this novelty piece -- in his traditional green ballpoint, no less -- and that autograph now projects from this ball to a quality of 5-6. LOA from PSA/DNA.
