    Description

    A beauty from the Beast...

Circa 1950 Jimmie Foxx Single Signed Baseball, PSA/DNA EX-MT 6. "He has muscles in his hair," Yankees Hall of Fame pitcher Lefty Gomez once said of the prolific slugger who made the 500 Home Run Club a duo during the final week of the 1940 season, joining the Babe in long ball immortality. One of the most feared right-handed hitters in baseball history, Foxx was a key force in breaking the 1920's Yankees' stranglehold on the American League, supplying Philadelphia with three pennants and two World Championships during Connie Mack's second great Athletics dynasty.

Only Mel Ott presents a greater challenge to collectors aiming for a complete run of 500 Home Run Club single signed baseballs, so this is a missing component of many a high-end collection. We stress, however, that this particular specimen does far more than simply raise its hand to be counted, the rather stringent grade of 7/10 for the sweet spot signature from the experts at PSA/DNA rating among the finest found on horsehide. The "Detroit Tigers" souvenir baseball earns a 5/10 assessment for the combined grade as listed.

Some stray ink on the "Wilson" branding of the ball, well clear of the autograph, is noted only in the interest of full disclosure, doing nothing to affect display or the single signed designation. Our catalog imagery should convey the message best, that this is one of the prettiest Foxx singles in the hobby. Full Grading LOA from PSA/DNA, EX-MT 6. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
