Circa 1948 Cleveland Indians & New York Giants Signed Baseballs. High-quality pair of baseballs dates from the early post-war years, as the game's biggest stars returned from military service to reclaim their rightful positions on the diamond. The highlight of the two is certainly the stellar OAL (Harridge) ball featuring seventeen absolutely pristine blue ink signatures from the Indians and beyond, certainly signed at the World Series of 1948. We can definitively make this statement given the appearance of top baseball executives, and of Billy Southworth, who skippered the Boston Braves that met the Indians that October. Hall of Fame talent abounds, with Feller, Frick, Chandler, Harridge, Doby, Boudreau, McKechnie, Speaker and Mel Allen. The ONL (Frick) ball is no slouch either, with its seventeen signatures including Giants like Mize, Thomson, Travis Jackson and Durocher. Signature quality is perhaps a touch below that of its partner, a strong and steady 9/10. All autographs were acquired in person by an AP reporter, and are presented here for the first time to the collecting public. LOA from Steve Grad & Zach Rullo/ PSA DNA.
