Description
The greatest slugging tandem in the history of the sport
Circa 1932 Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig Dual-Signed Baseball. Never in the history of American team sports has there been a more dominant duo, each iconic Yankee launching dozens of long balls during seasons in which it didn't even require double-digits to reach the top ten in the category. So even Yankee haters have to tip their caps to the Bambino and the Iron Horse, who share space here upon the presented "Atlantic" brand sphere. Rumor has it that these two didn't always see eye to eye, with fellow Hall of Famer Tony Lazzeri famously quipping, "They didn't get along. Gehrig thought Ruth was a big-mouth and Ruth thought Gehrig was cheap. They were both right." Despite this personality clash, this pair authored the first great Bronx dynasty and remains forever linked in Monument Park, in Cooperstown, and in the hearts of Yankees fan worldwide. In standard format, the Babe claims sweet spot honors for himself, but Gehrig applies his side panel signature near enough to Ruth's autograph to allow for simultaneous display. While the ancient horsehide has aged to a steady beige, the black fountain pen applications lose little of their original vitality, each rating a solid 8/10 in strength. A top-level representation of perhaps the most essential duet in the autographed baseball realm. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
