    Description

Circa 1930 Rube Marquard Single Signed Baseball. Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Marquard earned his nickname not for a country upbringing but rather for the resemblance of his pitching style to fellow future Hall of Famer Rube Waddell. Though this Rube lived to age ninety-three, nine years past his 1971 Hall of Fame induction, his single remains in surprisingly short supply. You'll find few finer than the presented example, inscribed on one panel, "To Thomas C. Eakin, Sincerely," and, just below, "Rube Marquard." All ink is 9/10, beneath a thin coating of shellac. A third panel is neatly notated, in an unknown hand, "Rube Marquard, New York Giants, Most Consecutive Games Won, Season (19), 1912." Ball is "Semi-Pro League" model. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
