    Description

Circa 1930 Grover Cleveland Alexander Single Signed Baseball. We expect that there will be a fairly sizable group of bidders who decide this is the "can't miss" lot of the auction. Whether collectors of singles from 300 Game Winners, or simply from Hall of Famers, most will be lacking an example from this troubled legend, whose alcoholism, epilepsy and post-traumatic stress from World War I horrors couldn't derail one of the most remarkable pitching careers in baseball history. Alexander's death in 1950, and the aforementioned afflictions that saw him absent from the public eye with only rare exceptions since the end of his barnstorming days in the mid-1930's, have left only a tiny supply of single signed baseballs available to the collecting market. Here we present one of the finest we've ever seen. The medium is an "Official League Ball," which, while not a Major League model, provides a look indentical to period ONL specimens with its black and red stitching. A blue ink side panel signature remains in remarkable 9+/10 condition, perhaps the strongest we've ever seen on a baseball. The ball is moderately dirt-stained and toned, suggesting prior game use. Educated collectors will surely understand what a rare opportunity it is that we present here. LOA from PSA/DNA.
