    Description

Circa 1928 Ty Cobb & Tris Speaker Signed Baseball. Two of the greatest hitters of the Dead Ball Era, Speaker and Cobb closed out their Hall of Fame careers as members of the 1928 Philadelphia Athletics, and we suspect this OAL sphere derives from that brief partnership. From that assumption we believe the ball is derivative of the Ban Johnson presidency, though that stamping has been lost to the ages. The Grey Eagle takes sweet spot honors, with the Georgia Peach just to the north, each registering at a conservative 7/10 in black fountain pen ink. No other autographs appear. Some insect damage appears opposite the autographs, as if even hungry bugs knew better than to tangle with this pair. The first duo ball we've seen from these inaugural class Hall of Famers, and a very rare opportunity for the advanced collector. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
