    Description

Circa 1927 Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig Dual-Signed Baseball. Whenever one finds this celebrated Yankee duo on Senior Circuit horsehide, the pulse quickens. We all know that, during this era of our National Pastime, the only interleague play came at the end of the season, thus all evidence points to Fall Classic derivation. The Yanks were the American League representative in the World Series during each season from 1926 and 1928. The presence of Gehrig rules out 1923, and the quotation marks around Ruth's famous nickname likewise takes 1932 off the table, and even makes the 1928 Series unlikely.

So while any Ruth/Gehrig sphere is cause for celebration, the delectable vintage of this specimen sets it apart from the pack. Ruth's sweet spot blue fountain pen autograph rates a solid 8/10, with the stalwart first baseman to the south projects with nearly equivalent boldness in black. We must report that there has been partial enhancement to the Iron Horse--his first name and the "G" of his surname, but the expert work will be apparent only to the most eagle-eyed viewer. It's a minor stumble for an otherwise sensational representation, still worthy of a featured role in the finest of private collections. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
