DescriptionCirca 1926 Babe Ruth & Billy Southworth Signed Baseball.
Though Golden Age contemporaries, seven decades separate the dates of their Hall of Fame inductions, with Southworth finally getting his bronze plaque in 2008. Provided for your consideration is almost certainly the only dual-autographed ball bearing this unique combination, likely signed in either 1926 or 1928 when Ruth's Yankees and Southworth's Cardinals met in the World Series. The Babe's sweet spot signature, complete with his early format quotation marks, projects at a strength of 6/10, with an abrasion claiming much of the letter "a." Southworth's bold inscription across the rear of the ONL (Heydler) ball remains considerably more prominent, with "Compliments to A. F. Graham From Billy Southworth" retaining a boldness of 9+/10. A unique and appealing artifact one is not likely to encounter again. JSA Auction LOA.
