Billy Herman Single Signed Baseball. In the hierarchy of slick fielding second sackers in Chicago's north side, their was Billy Herman in the 1930's long before Ryne Sandberg. In 1932 he batted .314 and his presence was a major factor in the Cubs' drive to an NL pennant. He tailed off a bit at the plate in 1933, then posted four consecutive seasons above .300. His hitting streak included a .341 mark in 1935 when he led the major leagues with 227 hits and 57 doubles as the Cubs claimed another NL pennant. During the four seasons from 1935 to 1938 he was the league's best fielding second baseman three times. With his steady play in the infield, the Cubs won the NL title in 1938. Offered is an official A.L. ball (B. Brown) signed on the sweet spot in blue ballpoint. LOA from PSA/DNA.
