Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig & Joe DiMaggio Signed Baseball. Numbers Three, Four and Five stack up in a row on this Official International League ball, answering the prayers that any serious Yankee collector would have never even dared to dream. The magical trio is the result of an autograph hunt spanning decades, as Ruth and Gehrig's black fountain pen signatures (rating 5/10 in strength) clearly predate DiMaggio's 9/10 blue ballpoint offering by half a century. Intriguingly, the anachronistic assortment doesn't end there. Another side panel features the 6/10 black fountain pen signature of Hall of Famer Bill McKechnie, which he dates "July 23/29." It's interesting to note that this marks the day that he was reinstated as manager of the St. Louis Cardinals, ending a failed experiment placing Billy Southworth at the reins. Another rotation of the ball finds legendary pugilist Jack Dempsey, who dates his 5/10 blue ink signature "5/16/60." Bob Feller and Lou Boudreau also appear to have been added in later years, and a final unidentifiable light black ink signature dates to the prewar era. Will the winning bidder put it in his trophy case, or keep the project going? Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez might be options to consider. Regardless, you can be sure you won't find a ball quite this intriguing any time soon. LOA from PSA/DNA. LOA from James Spence Authentication.
