Description

One of two issued to the American League's top winner

1998 New York Yankees World Series Championship Ring Presented to David Cone. While the Murderer's Row edition of 1927 continues to maintain consensus as the greatest in pinstriped history, runner-up honors are often credited to the team the presented ring commemorates, one that (by virtue of expanded regular and postseason schedules) owns the all-time Major League record for single-season victories at 125. Twenty-two of those wins are credited to the recipient of the offered relic, including an American League-leading twenty in the regular season that established Cone as record-holder for the longest gap between twenty-win seasons (1988 to 1998). Cone would further burnish his professional resume with a perfect game in 1999, the last to date recorded by a Yankees pitcher.

This is, in point of fact, one of two Championship rings awarded to Cone at the close of the Yanks' four-game World Series sweep of the San Diego Padres, identical in every regard to the one on Cone's finger, right down to the more expensive fourteen-karat gold (14K) construction and the cherry wood and etched glass hinged display case that serves as the ring's home.

Genuine diamonds construct the legendary "NY" logo on the ring face, set against a large blue stone and encircled by raised text that proudly reports, "1998 World Champions." Left shank frames miniature figurals of the World Series Trophy and Yankee Stadium between text reading "Cone" and "Tradition." Right shank provides the classic bat and hat team logo at center of the "125-50" record and "Best Ever" commentary. Interior band is stamped "Balfour 14K" and measures to a size ten (10).

The ring presents in pristine condition, as does the original display case with etched glass boasting, "1998 New York Yankees World Champions." Case measures 2.5x5.5x7". LOA from PSA/DNA.
