Description

1977 Satchel Paige Single Signed Baseball. Fellow Hall of Famer Dizzy Dean once said of Paige, "He's a better pitcher than I ever hope to be," explaining that "My fastball looks like a change of pace alongside that little pistol bullet Satchel shoots up to the plate." Perhaps the greatest pitcher ever developed by the Negro Leagues, Paige applied an 8.5/10 black ink signature to the side panel of the provided "Worth Official League" baseball. Just above, he directs the ball to its recipient, adding the date of "9-21-77." Some light toning spots are little distraction. A fine specimen from one of the Hall's first African-American residents. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
