    Description

1972 Joe McCarthy Single Signed Baseball. He called the shots for everyone from Cuyler and Hornsby to Ruth and Gehrig to Williams and Doerr, notching a remarkable 2,125 career victories against just 1,333 defeats. Yet managers, however great, just never tended to inspire autograph requests, leaving collectors of Hall of Fame singles battling for the short supply. Here we offer a heavily inscribed "Official League" ball, penned entirely in the eighty-five year old legend's hand. Unbelievably bold black ink reads, "With Best Wishes to Paul Lakeman, From Joe McCarthy, June 7th, 1972." A light brushing of shellac has been applied over the inscription and autograph, yellowing just a fraction of a shade but preserving the ink in flawless condition. LOA from PSA/DNA. LOA from James Spence Authentication.
