    Description

1969 Roberto Clemente Single Signed Baseball. Blazing the trail for Hispanic players in Major League Baseball. Roberto Clemente was certainly a fine choice for that role. With a .317 lifetime batting average to go with 3,000 hits and 240 home runs, Clemente was still hitting the ball solidly when he was lost in a plane wreck in 1972 while on a humanitarian aid mission. There is no telling how many more solid seasons he may have gone on to have. As it is, the Hall of Famer's signature is one of the most desired of any post-WWII player. The offered ONL (Giles) baseball is dirty and scuffed, making it appear to be a possible game ball, and offers an inscription in Spanish followed by a 7.5/10 signature on the sweet spot. the panel to the left includes writing in an unknown hand that is only partly legible, including "Houston, Tex... 1969...today...354, No. 1 in Natl. League and..." Although difficult to discern what event this refers to, there is no denying its place as a fantastic single signed Roberto Clemente baseball. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
