1968 St. Louis Cardinals Team Signed Baseball. It was an unforgettable year, remembered for the two assassinations, the war in Vietnam, the 1960's counter-culture, the Olympic protest, and "the year of the pitcher" in baseball. Detroit's Denny McLain won thirty-one games and St. Louis' Bob Gibson posted a 1.12 earned run average. As fate would have it, their two teams squared off in the World Series with the Tigers winning in seven games despite Bob Gibson's heroics. Twenty-three Cardinals have signed this ONL (Giles) baseball with Red Schoendienst and Orlando Cepeda on the sweet spot, future four-time NL Cy Young winner Steve Carlton, Curt Flood, Lou Brock, and Tim McCarver. Some signatures have faded, baseball has some rubbing, 5/10. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
