1960's Casey Stengel Single Signed Baseball. Casey Stengel may be remembered as "The Old Perfessor" and his reign of terror atop Major League Baseball in the 1949-1960 Yankees era of dominance, but Stengel certainly paid his dues getting to that place. Beginning with a playing career that spanned 1912-1925, he then went on to numerous managing and coaching gigs, mostly in the Minor Leagues, until taking over the Dodgers from 1934-36. From there, he covered the Boston Braves from 1938-43 and returned to the minors until 1949, when the New York Yankees came calling.With a team that finally had some talent, Stengel went on to win seven World Series championships in his twelve year tenure with the team, as well as three more AL pennants, only missing World Series appearances in two seasons. After a one year hiatus in 1961, Stengel came back to manage the recently formed New York Mets franchise and was highly beloved by the fans despite the team's lack of success.
The offered OAL (Cronin) baseball dates from the 1959-73 period and shows moderate dirt and toning. Still the signature itself is a very bold 9/10 and signed in large letters, making the autograph really pop off the sweet spot. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
