    Description

1959 Ty Cobb Single Signed Baseball. A failing kidney and the spreading cancer that would ultimately claim the Georgia Peach in 1961 required Cobb's hospitalization at Atlanta's Emory University Hospital throughout most of December 1959, where this sphere was gifted to a nurse providing his care. The side panel signature is rendered in Cobb's favored green ink, applied with an average strength of 7/10. Cobb underscores his essential autograph with the date, "12/16/59," his writing sealed beneath a nearly imperceptible clear coat. The "Special Official League" ball remains pearly white with only a few hints of toning. A fine representation of one of the hobby's most essential building blocks. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
