    Description

1955 Brooklyn Dodgers Team Signed Baseball. Outrageously spectacular sphere remains so unchanged from the date of its birth one would almost expect to look out the window and see kids with bobby socks and greased pompadours. The secret to its youthfulness is included in the lot, the original Spalding bag which served as a lonely home for decades, allowing none of the thugs of time to enter. A full roster of twenty-four signatures is here, recalling that one joyous season when the tough luck Bums finally got the best of the mighty Yanks. Manager Walt Alston takes sweet spot duties, with Jackie, Campy, Pee Wee, the Duke, Hodges, Erskine, Furillo, Labine, Gilliam and the rest of the gang right around the corner, including the essential Frank Kellert who assures 1955 vintage. Reese, Snider and Loes are secretarial. The ONL (Giles) ball is the precise model utilized during those glorious and heartbreaking final seasons at Ebbets, its horsehide mellowed to a delectable, creamy hue. The blue ink coating its surface never dips below 9/10 in strength. An essential lot for the collector who demands nothing but the best. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
