Description

1954 "Wahoo Sam" Crawford Single Signed Baseball. A devastating combination of power and speed elevated "Wahoo Sam" to the top of the career charts for triples with a total of 309, fourteen better than his closest rival and Hall of Fame teammate Ty Cobb. Much like Gehrig's experience with Ruth, Crawford often found himself in the shadow of the more famous Tiger, and his single signed baseballs are rarely seen within the hobby. Here we find the best of that elite class, bearing the most desirable of autograph formats. Upon a local sporting goods store's sphere, the speedy Tiger writes, "To Fred, With all good wishes, Samuel E. Crawford, 'Wahoo Sam,' April 1954." The black fountain pen ink averages a conservative 8/10 throughout, and the ball is an even, creamy tone. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
