    Description

1952 New York Yankees Team Signed Baseball. With the great DiMaggio settling into retirement, the stage was set for a young Mickey Mantle to earn top billing in the Bronx, and this year he would do just that. Despite a nagging knee injury suffered in the second game of the 1951 Series, the twenty-year old Oklahoman earned a third place finish in American League MVP voting and justified his position with Phil Rizzuto upon the sweet spot of the presented OAL (Harridge) ball. Twenty-three share space with this Hall of Fame duo, including Mize, Berra, Martin, McDougald, Sain, Raschi, Reynolds and McDougald. The club would win the fourth of five consecutive World Series this October, further elevating the appeal of this lot. Signature quality averages 7/10, with only one (Bauer) falling more than two points off that pace. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
