Description

1952 Baseball Legends Multi-Signed Baseball from Famous "Toots Shor" Summit, PSA/DNA NM-MT 8. During the decades of the 1940's and 1950's, the West 51st Street eatery owned and operated by Manhattan restaurateur Toots Shor was the surest bet for those looking to rub elbows with the city's glitterati. Famous and beloved for his dry wit and unfailingly positive attitude, Shors counted movie stars, politicians and gangsters among his inner circle. But the restaurant is best remembered as a favorite among a generation of baseball legends, a regular haunt of Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle and a host of other iconic ballplayers.

Presented is a multi-signed sphere recounting the most star-studded Toots Shor baseball summit of them all, an event that was memorialized with a full-bleed photograph on the back of the menu for posterity. Thirteen immortals bless the pale horsehide of the offered ONL (Frick) ball, beginning with a bold Jimmie Foxx and the sweet spot, and joined by the following: Mel Ott, Ty Cobb, Ed Walsh, George Sisler, Rogers Hornsby, Fred Clarke, Cy Young, Charles Gehringer, Charles "Kid" Nichols, Pie Traynor, Tris Speaker and Mickey Cochrane. The included menu, which features the "class photo" of the signers, bears an 8/10 blue ink signature from Cobb just below his image, though the dark-on-dark contrast makes it tough to spot.

In perfect tandem with the eye-popping roster of signers is the equally impressive condition of this coveted artifact, garnering matching 8/10 ratings for the autographs and the baseball itself respectively from the discriminating minds of PSA/DNA. The result is a signed baseball that will rise to the top of even the most impressive and carefully curated assembly. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
