    Description

1951 New York Yankees Team Signed Baseball. The rapturous joy felt by Giants fans in the wake of Bobby Thomson's famous "Shot" was short-lived due to the twenty-six gentlemen whose signatures appear on this OAL (Harridge) ball. The Yanks were unstoppable this October, despite the fact that their rookie right fielder, a kid named Mickey Mantle, was lost to an injury in the Series' second game that would plague him the rest of his Hall of Fame career. His supremely desirable rookie signature is placed just to the east of the sweet spot autograph of the man whose throne he was destined to assume, the departing legend Joe DiMaggio. Those with even a passing knowledge of Yankees history are aware that 1951 represents the only season these definitive Yankees shared a dugout, making this arguably the most desirable of post-war team balls. This fine example rates a steady and conservative 7/10 in signature quality, with not a single autograph venturing more than two points in one direction or the other. Joining Joe and Mickey are such stars as Rizzuto, Berra, Mize, Dickey, Martin, Crosetti, Reynolds, Raschi, McDougald, Silvera and more. Only Ed Lopat appears in secretarial format. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
