1951 Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella & Don Newcombe Signed Baseball. The three African-American members of the team that came a Bobby Thomson "Shot" away from the National League pennant have made the provided non-official ball one of the most culturally significant to come down the pike in some time. Of course it doesn't hurt that two own a Hall of Fame plaque and the third a Cy Young and National League MVP. First we encounter Jackie's side panel inscription, "To Ray Tripler from Jackie Robinson," applied in 7/10 black fountain pen ink. Two shades darker, on an adjacent panel, we find Campy's "To my 'Pal Ray,' Best Wishes, Roy Campanella." Finally, an abbreviated inscription from Newcombe, in 6/10 ink: "Ray, Aug 12 -51, Don." The ball itself exhibits typical, even toning. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.

The hammer price for my Mantle card significantly exceeded my admittedly conservative estimations, and I couldn't be more pleased.
