1951 Cy Young Single Signed Baseball, PSA/DNA EX-MT 6. As youngsters Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays were taking their first steps toward baseball immortality, the great Cy Young was enjoying his fortieth year of retirement when he autographed this "Bob Feller Fire Ball" for one of his many fans. While we've seen many dated baseballs in the past, this is the first we've encountered that includes the time as well, as a notation on the panel (unknown hand) to the south of Young's signature announces "5-11-51 WCY(?) 6:30 PM." But, of course, it is the booming blue ink autograph from the mound's most prolific winner that captures the attention, a marvelously bold fountain pen application that is visible at fifty yards' distance. The PSA/DNA grade of EX-MT 6 will strike most viewers as downright stingy, and we suggest that interested parties view the enlargeable images on our website and be their own judges. A truly splendid representation of one of the hobby's most essential building blocks. Full Grading LOA from PSA/DNA, EX-MT 6. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
