Description

1951 American League All-Star Team Signed Baseball from the Casey Stengel Collection. Detroit's Briggs Stadium served as the battleground for this war between the Leagues, with the great Casey Stengel at the helm of the Americans. Answering the dreams of managers the world over, both Joe DiMaggio and Ted Williams shared his dugout for this unforgettable game, along with fellow Hall of Famers Kell, Doby, Lemon, Henrich, Rizzuto and Doerr. All have signed this OAL (Harridge) ball, as well as Stengel himself, who has also added the text, "All Star 1951" in his own hand. Twenty-three signatures appear in total, at an average quality of 8/10 with a few minor exceptions. Light shellac is largely responsible for the top quality of the autographs after a half a century. The ball has been encapsulated in a special PSA ball cube with a "Stengel Collection" label. A full PSA/DNA letter of authenticity attesting to the Stengel provenance is included as well.
