    Description

1949 Cy Young Single Signed "Stat" Baseball. Decades before statistics-related notations became the norm in baseball autograph collecting, one smart hobbyist had the foresight to ask for something a little extra from the game's most prolific victor. Along with Cy Young's bold side panel signature, graded 8/10 by PSA/DNA, the Hall of Fame pitcher also writes "Pitched - 874, Won - 511." A notation in an unknown hand dates the meeting to June 6, 1949. We also note that an aborted attempt at Young's signature appears on the opposing side panel, though it's clear that the legendary hurler decided it wasn't going well and that he'd try again on the other side. Medium is a lightly and evenly toned Official Little League ball (graded 4/10 by PSA/DNA). A special find for the advanced hobbyist. Full grading LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
