1948 New York Yankees Team Signed Baseball. Although finishing with a strong record of 94-60, both the Cleveland Indians and Boston Red Sox finished with more wins than the 1948 Yankees, showing the strength of the American League that season. Only three teams finished in the A.L. that year with losing records. It would also be Bucky Harris' final season managing the Yankees, giving way to Casey Stengel in 1949. The 1948 squad, and this team-signed baseball, were both led by Joe DiMaggio (3/10), Yogi Berra (9/10), and Phil "Scooter" Rizzuto (8/10).

A heavy shellacking has obscured many of the signatures, including the DiMaggio and one panel of seven autographs, including Tommy Henrich. Other easily visible notables include Ralph Houk, Randy Gumpert, Vic Raschi, Bucky Harris, Frankie Crosetti, George "Snuffy" Stirnweiss, Bobby Brown (later President of the A.L.), Charlie Keller, Hank Bauer, Allie Reynolds and Sherm Lollar. In all there are thirty-one signatures with five (including Berra and Rizzuto) unaffected by shellacking, and nearly twenty of the autographs shellacked but very readable. PSA had deemed the DiMaggio and Harris to be clubhouse. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
