Description
1946 Honus Wagner Single Signed Baseball.Your eyes are not fooling you--that really is 9+/10 fountain pen ink, applied by the Old Dutchmen to the sweet spot of an ONL (Frick) ball. The inaugural class Hall of Famer signs his name in its most recognizable format, adding "Pirates 1946" below. On the panels to the north and south, an unknown hand has penned the personalization, "To Agnes Rousson," and the factoid, "At 37 he led National League with .334 in 1911" respectively. Ball appears to exhibit pre-autograph game use, almost certainly from a Pirates contest for which Wagner served as coach. One of the very finest Wagner singles in the hobby, for the discerning collector. Ball is consigned by a member of the Rousson family, a descendant of the ball's original owner.
Note: This 1946 Wagner signed baseball would make the perfect companion to the 1946 Wagner game worn jersey that also appears in this auction. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication. Full LOA from SGC Authentic.
