    Description

1945 World War II "Marianas League" Team Signed Baseball from The Enos Slaughter Collection. In 1945, in order to build up the morale of U.S. troops deployed to Mariana Archipelago and Iwo Jima in the Pacific Theater, a series of baseball games, featuring major and minor league players and collegiate athletes, were played on those islands.

This OAL (Harridge) sphere with U.S. Army stamping is signed by twenty from one of those "Marianas League" contests, including Enos Slaughter (sweet spot), John Murphy (Yankees' ace reliever and 1969 Miracle Mets' GM), Howie Pollett (three-time All-Star and World Series champion), Frank Saul (one of two players in NBA history to win four championships with multiple teams in consecutive seasons), Frank Norberg (played with the 49ers and Bears), Stan Jones, Roy Pitter, and others. The ball exhibits light ageing and the autographs grade an overall 6.5/10 in strength. Letter of provenance from The Enos Slaughter Collection. Pre-Certified by PSA/DNA..
