Additional Information: Two Hall of Famer. Yankees great Lefty Gomez was nearing the end of his career when he was cut by both the Bronx Bombers and the Boston Braves in the first half of 1943. The Senators took a shot on him, starting the southpaw in the second game of a doubleheader. Gomez lasted only 4 2/3 innings and just like that his career was over. Washington held him on their roster for another five weeks before cutting him loose. When he penned his signature on the east panel of this OAL sphere he must have known it would be one of the last team balls he would sign in his active playing career.
    Secretarial/Clubhouse Signatures: Early Wynn.
