Description

1943 National League All-Star Team Signed Baseball. The eleventh edition of the Midsummer Classic was the first to be played under lights, and though the Major League ranks had been diminished by the WWII draft, there was no shortage of stars in that nighttime sky. Most notable upon this OAL (Harridge) ball are Hall of Famers Ott, Frisch, Herman, Southworth, Lombardi and a young Stan Musial, who was appearing in the first of his twenty-four consecutive All-Star Games in 1943. The Senior Circuit's hero Vince DiMaggio, who lacked only a double in becoming the first player to hit for the cycle in the celebrated annual event, is also here along with twelve more for a grand total of nineteen autographs. Signature quality is a consistent 6/10 to 8/10, with light surface wear and a few rust spots causing no significant concern. Passeau signature is secretarial. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.

I know for a fact that the sale by Heritage was way beyond what I was offered by other people. If I had to do it over again, I would absolutely choose Heritage again.
