    Description

1943 Beans Reardon Signed World Series Game Five Used Baseball from The Beans Reardon Collection.
The Cardinals defeated the Yankees in five games to win the 1942 World Series. In 1943, the Bronx Bombers turned the tables on the Redbirds, besting them in five contests a Fall Classic rematch. The series also pitted A.L. MVP Spud Chandler against N.L. MVP Stan Musial. It is also interesting to note that New York got their revenge without DiMaggio, Rizzuto and Ruffing who were all lost to military service.

The ONL (Frick) sphere on offer here was used in the deciding game, and later signed by Major League umpire Beans Reardon who was a member of the Series' officiating crew. The black fountain pen signature and inscription over the sweet spot reads "'Beans' Reardon, National League Umpire."

The panel to the left Reardon's autograph chronicles the score of the final contest "Yankees 2, Cardinals 0." The panel above Reardon's autograph reads "5th Game World Series. Sportsman's Park, St,Louis, Mo. Oct. 13, 1943." [Actually, the final game was on October 11th]. The experts at PSA/DNA have adjudicated that these two panels were signed in an "unknown hand."

While the signature and inscriptions have faded significantly, they can still be deciphered. A great opportunity to own a pre-war game used World Series baseball with superb provenance. Letter of provenance from the Reardon family. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from SGC Authentic.
