1941 New York Yankees Team Signed Baseball. The final season before many players headed off for World War II, 1941 was a fond season for many. Joe DiMaggio would reel off a fifty-six game hitting streak that captured the heart of America and even led to a hit song by the Les Brown Orchestra. The record continues to be unapproachable today and helped the New York Yankees win 101 games and reach the World Series yet again. Facing the Brooklyn Dodgers, the Yanks took just five games to prove their dominance. Led by DiMaggio, the formidable lineup also included Red Rolfe, Tommy Henrich, Charles "Red" Ruffing, Phil "Scooter" Rizzuto, Charlie Keller, Spud Chandler and Bill Dickey. PSA has deemed the McCarthy and DiMaggio as clubhouse and notes the Henrich is enhanced.
All of the aforementioned players are visible on this ball, as well as manager Joe McCarthy, in 5-6/10 quality ink. Numerous other players are present, but heavy wear has obscured many of the remaining autographs which would grade in the 1-4/10 range. The Henrich appears to have been rubbed off and re-signed at a later date. Although in rough condition, this rare ball includes the majority of the stars of the team in displayable condition. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
