Description

1941 Honus Wagner Single Signed Baseball. You can have your Cobbs, your Lajoies, your Chases, your Bakers," once said Hall of Fame manager John McGraw, "but I'll take Wagner as my pick of the greatest." Perhaps best remembered as the face on the most valuable baseball card in the world, the legendary Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop remains a particularly tough autograph despite his many years in uniform, first as a player and later as a coach for the team he loved. The Old Dutchman provides a particularly desirable variation of his essential autograph, signing "J. Honus Wagner" above his dated notation of "Aug. 8 - 41," coinciding with a one to nothing Pirates loss to the Cubs at Wrigley. Black fountain pen ink rates 7/10, and the "Atlantic Base Ball School" model horsehide is lightly and evenly toned. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
