Description
1941-80 Al Barlick, Cal Hubbard, Ron Luciano, George Magerkurth & Other Umpires Multi Signed Baseballs Lot of 4. This collection of baseballs features numerous tough-to-locate umpire signatures on both single signed and multi signed baseballs. On a single signed, unmarked baseball, Ron Luciano has penned his name on the sweet spot in 8/10 ink with even toning to the entire ball. On an ONL (Frick) ball, albeit a bit dirty, there is a nice 1940's signature in fountain pen of George Magerkurth in 7/10 quality. The first multi signed baseball is marked on a side panel as "1957 Pacific Coast League Umpires," and features eight signatures on this PCL baseball with even dirt staining. Signatures include Emmett Ashford, Al Somers, Frank Kerr, Earl Lennon, Chris Pelekoudas, Steve Yuhase and Orr. Ashford would go on to become the first African-American umpire in baseball in 1966. Signatures range between 8-10/10.
The final multi signed ball, on an unofficial Little League orb, features Cal Hubbard and Al Barlick (both Hall of Famers), as well as Babe Pinelli, Ernie Ashford, Beans Reardon, Artie Gore and Lynton Boggess. Boggess is very light and rates a 2/10, but the remainder are in 7-9/10 quality. The baseball itself is an even, creamy white. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication on all four. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
