Ruth, Cobb, Foxx, Young and much, much more!
1940's Hall of Famers Multi-Signed Baseball with Eighteen Pre-War Hall of Famers. A labor of love for an early autograph collector provides the collecting hobby with one of the most densely talent-packed spheres ever to grace the Heritage auction block. With an Official American League (Harridge) baseball in one hand and a blue ink fountain pen in the other, this gentleman sought out the greatest living names of our National Pastime, slowly building a roster of names rarely seen in such a sizeable congregation outside the walls of Cooperstown. Surviving with an average boldness of 7/10 beneath an effective clear coating of shellac, the Hall of Fame roll call:Chief Bender, Ty Cobb, Mickey Cochrane, Earle Combs, Stan Coveleski, Charlie Gehringer, Lefty Gomez, Harry Hooper, Waite Hoyt, Jimmie Foxx, Herb Pennock, Babe Ruth, Ray Schalk, Al Simmons, George Sisler, Tris Speaker, Ed Walsh, Cy Young.
Thirty-seven autographs appear in total, with a definite 1920's Yankees theme found in the names of Mark Koenig, Wilcy Moore, Joe Dugan, Everett Scott, Bob Meusel, Bob Shawkey, Roger Peckinpaugh, Wally Schang, Wally Pipp, etc. The autograph of Yankees owner Del Webb furthers the theory that this ball has Big Apple roots. For the collector looking to enhance his autograph holdings in a hurry, this ball is like a Lamborghini with a nitrous booster, taking you from zero to light speed in a flash of an eye. Just wanted to let you know how pleased I am regarding the sale of my hockey jersey. You were great to work with, you answered all my phone calls and e-mails in a prompt manner, and you did a great job marketing the jersey.View More Testimonials
